With a drive in pallet rack design, the forklift enters the rack from one side to pick up or pull out the pallet, and the pallet slides backward on the continuous guide rail. The forklift must drive into the rack to access two or more deep pallets.
(The drive in rack will be closed at one end of the rack, while the straight through rack will allow forklift operators to literally see through the entire rack system.) Pallets are stored back to back, which makes you incredibly dense.
Although selectivity may be affected, it does require fewer channels and cube storage is better. Since fewer aisles are required, drive in racks allow you to store up to 75% of the racks compared to selective racks.
